We had a wonderful weekend in Oregon. The impetus for the weekend there was the Oregon Flock and Fiber Festival (OFFF). We planned ahead and made reservations in Portland so we could visit with my daughter while there, even though OFFF was about an hour away.
As the name of the festival implies, there were sheep---lots of cute sheep.
Cute and fluffy sheep.
We took our dog with us and had to leave her in the car. So while VG was walking her and making sure she was getting enough water, I got to browse through the barns. It was so much fun and the sheep and goats were so social, I couldn't resist photographing them.
Along with the sheep, there were plenty of fleeces, roving, and yarn to peruse. I had a blast. I was able to pick up a few balls of roving, and as it turns out---all of it was purchased from a gal in my spinning group. After walking through all the other booths a couple of times, her rovings were the best quality and colors.
So I couldn't resist.
Although I really wanted some fabulous colors of wool to spin, I have been borrowing a friends Woolee Winder and have really become accustomed to using it. So we decided that this would be a good time to purchase my own since the maker was at the festival.
I love it!! I believe I am able to spin more evenly, but it also could be the quality of the roving.
Not only was there a lot to see at OFFF, most of my spinning and knitting buddies were also there and the weather was great. So Saturday turned out to be a terrific day, who could ask for more---sun, wool, sheep, and friends.
